Boone County Family Resources Hiring Legal Position

Boone County Family Resources, located in Columbia, Missouri, purchases and provides services for Boone County residents with developmental disabilities. With a budget of nearly $13 million, the Agency serves approximately 1,800 clients of all ages, providing case management, employment, residential and in-home services. The Agency is an enrolled Medicaid provider, and also provides property management services for two newly constructed special needs affordable housing apartment complexes. The Employer is looking for a Missouri licensed attorney interested in working in an administrative capacity for an agency that supports people with developmental disabilities to join our team. Boone County Family Resources, a leader in disability services since 1976, is seeking an Assistant to the Executive Director. Qualifications include a degree from a four-year accredited college or university and a license to practice law in Missouri that is in good standing.

The primary duty is to assist the Executive Director in maintaining compliance with applicable state and federal regulatory requirements and keeping abreast of changes in regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include: Serve as Privacy Officer for implementation and monitoring of compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); Keep abreast of Medicaid policy changes and opportunities; Train staff or develop training materials to comply with federal and state requirements; Assist with contract preparation, review and management; Assist staff in responding to subpoenas, document requests, accommodations and other ADA requests, and FMLA issues; and Serve as the agency’s Corporate Compliance Officer. This position assists with program and policy development and is expected to exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in planning and carrying out responsibilities.
